Making Healthcare Preparedness a Part of the Homeland Security Equation
The acute healthcare delivery system is a fundamentally important component of the critical infrastructure of the United States, and must be better integrated into the development of a realistic homeland security strategy. Key priorities include the promotion of "best practice" approaches to healthcare facility disaster preparedness, the development of scalable surge capacity solutions, and the improved coordination of the healthcare delivery system with public health, public safety, and other responders by means of reliable incident management and other information technology tools.
